IMPHAL, Nov 24: India having failed to suppress Manipur’s National struggle with their current colonial policies, has now adopted the most dangerous game, so far, of divide and destroy. India’s new game became visible on May 3, 2023 when armed kuki militants and mercenary Kukis, allegedly nurtured and sponsored by India, began to attack Meitei settlements thereby creating Kuki-Meitei bloodshed. Thus India has successfully created a Kuki-Meitei ethnic bloodshed, the Koireng-led UNLF’s Central Committee continued.
“India’s strategy is to destroy the very historical foundation of Manipur laid by our forefathers with blood and sacrifice. It is an open secret that several thousand strong Indian Army deployed in the hill areas are engaged in instigating and helping the mercenary Kukis against the Meiteis”, it alleged.
This is a part of India’s counter insurgency strategy to suppress the National struggle of Manipur by rupturing the relationship between the Kukis and Meiteis, it added.
The objective of this ultimate strategy of divide and destroy of Indian colonial rule is - among others, (1) to hijack the National liberation struggle (to regain sovereignty and independence of Manipur) with the India-created ‘Kuki-Meitei ethnic bloodshed’ so as to overshadow the Manipur-India conflict to the eyes of the world; (2) break-up Manipur State, the forerunner in many fields in WESEA, and (3) to break the backbone of the Meiteis who shouldered the main responsibility to consolidate the indigenous communities for building the foundation of Manipur State.
Another objective of India’s strategy is to destroy the historical legacy of Manipur’s existence as a sovereign and independent kingdom, the Central Committee said.
This collective historical legacy is the source of Manipuri national character in standing up to challenge India. And India knows very well that the historical legacy is the permanent strength of Manipur and the Meiteis, it said.
In order to defeat India’s covert and overt plans to suppress the National liberation struggle, it is essential first, to build unity and faith among the indigenous people and communities of Manipur by understanding together the historical necessity of inter-dependent coexistence.
