NIA Court issues warrant

IMPHAL, Nov 25: Special Court NIA Manipur on Monday issued a warrant for producing LS Yosef Chongloi, a self-styled finance secretary of UKNA before the Court on November 27.
LS Yosef Chongloi (35) is presently lodged in Guwahati Central Jail in connection with a bomb blast on Sapermeina Bridge on March 24, 2024.
LS Yosef Chongloi is son of (L) Letkholal Chongloi of Boljang village, Churachandpur.
Initially, the case was registered with the Gamnom Sapermeina police station and the NIA took over the case on May 14, 2024.
After the NIA took over the case, LS Yosef Chongloi was arrested in Guwahati in another case.
In the Court today, the NIA submitted that a production warrant against the accused is necessary for examination and investigation.
The agency prayed the Court to issue the warrant and allow the production of the accused virtually.
The Court, after hearing the submission of Special PP NIA and on perusal of the materials on record, issued the production warrant and directed the authorities concerned to produce LS Yosef Chongloi before the Court virtually on November 27.
It may be mentioned that the UKNA is not a SoO group.
LS Yosef Chongloi is allegedly involved in sabotage activities covering Manipur and the bordering area of Assam, said the NIA.
