IMPHAL, Nov 24 : With the winter session of the Parliament set to commence tomorrow, Lok Sabha MP Dr Bimol Akoijam has asked the State Government to stop toeing the lines of line of Delhi which are issued at its fancy and whim.
He also said that the State Government must have the guts to stand up against the Central leadership if their policy and programme is detrimental to the interest of Manipur.
Dr Bimol met with the party members of block and district committees at his residence at Keishamthong Top Leirak today and discussed the agendas which he plans to raise during the Parliament session.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the MP said that he is prepared to raise the issue of Manipur during the Parliament session if the Speaker gives him the chance.
Saying that he has also requested the party leaders to let him take part in the discussion on the President's address, the MP continued that he is hopeful the party leaders will let him raise the issue of Manipur during the session.
On the issue in Manipur, the MP said that the unrest besieging the State for over 18 months is fuelled by a political challenge.
Continuing that a group of politicians who want to carve out a Separate Administration or a Union Territory have been criticising the Government on political lines, the MP added that the goal of these politicians is to facilitate disintegration of Manipur no matter how.
The inimical force has been employing violence to achieve their political goal, Dr Bimol said and added that a concrete political response must be given to those who want to break the State apart.
Saying that people should refrain from using communal tone while making any statement, he added that using violence for a political goal by the Kuki MLAs should be exposed and responded to in a political way.
Maintaining that the State Government should also have the guts to stand up against their Central leadership if the situation demands, the MP added that the Centre won't be able to dictate the State Government if the latter doesn't allow them to be.
He also said that the State Government should show nerve to prevent the Centre from doing whatever they fancy in Manipur.
The MP said that he will raise the issue of the Jiribam massacre where three children and three women were killed in captivity mercilessly by armed Kuki people if he is given the chance to speak.
