Pambei-led UNLF seeks suggestions-1
IMPHAL, Nov 23
The Central Committee of the Pambei-led United National Libera-tion Front (UNLF) has conveyed its greeting to the people of Manipur and revolutionary groups in WESEA region on the eve of its 60th raising day.
The outfit, in a lengthy statement, also extended highest respect to its founding leaders, party cadres, MPA officers, NCOs, privates and all the deceased cadres.
Saying that the Front took up arms to take forward the movement for right to self determination and to win back the lost sovereignty of all the people in the WESEA region, the outfit added that the armed movement of UNLF is the outcome of India's alleged colonial rule.
Appealing to the people to take part in working out a solution to the conflict between India and Manipur which is acceptable to both sides, the front sought ideas and suggestions from the people which can be placed during the formal negotiation with India.
It further appealed to the people to put forward their complaints or dissatisfaction against the outfit without any doubt or fear.
It is time for the people of Manipur to share their ideas and aspirations, the outfit added.
Saying that the outfit takes pride in taking forward the freedom struggle since the last 60 years, the front again extended its veneration to all the comrades and all the revolutionary groups who have a similar goal with the outfit.
It went on to state that the goal of the outfit which was established on November 24, 1964 is to win back the sovereignty of Manipur.
Further stating that the front has been fighting against the alleged colonial India since its establishment to give freedom back to the people, the outfit maintained their tactics also evolved with time and the changing reality.
The front further said that they employ both armed and unarmed strategies to achieve its goal and these two strategies complement one another.
Which strategy is more reasonable is determined by the objective and subjective conditions of the freedom struggle based on time and situation, it added.
Continuing that the outfit propagated unarmed propaganda from the 1970 to 1980 to instil a sense of patriotism among the people, the outfit added that its founder leaders established different departments and organisations and published journals to make people aware of the relation between India and Manipur, undermining of democracy and the persecution of people on the pretext of subduing freedom struggle.
The journals were instrumental in instilling a sense of patriotism among the people, it said and added that the front also promoted art and culture and indigenous sports among others during the decade (1970-1980)
Saying that no movement will yield result without raising the consciousness of the people, the outfit added that its armed propaganda commenced following the successful implementation of unarmed propaganda.
Many revolutionary groups also emerged in the late 1970s, the outfit recalled and added it was in this period that India imposed the draconian AFSPA,1958 and started the counter insurgency operations.
