IMPHAL, Nov 22: The banned outfit PREPAK(Pro) has awarded capital punishment to one of its cadres for his grave offences.
According to a statement issued by the outfit’s assistant publicity secretary L Ningsingba, Saikhom Santikumar alias Tinsuba Singh (23) s/o S Sanayaima Singh and S (O) Pramo Devi of Heirok Part 2 Bazar Maning went inside the room of a young married woman and tried to molest her on June 22, 2024 when he was assigned duty to a section of the party’s Base Area 1.
As the woman shouted, people of the neighbourhood came to know about the incident. Fearing punishment, Santikumar fled from the party taking the firearm issued to him at around 3.30 am of the next day.
The party immediately launched a manhunt for the deserter but some of the party cadres suffered casualties in the process of searching him.
Two days later, Santikumar was located at a particular place and he was rounded up. Although he deserved capital punishment, he was detained and awarded a light punishment. Soon after the punishment was completed, Santikumar again ran away taking along mobile phones, money and a firearm issued to another cadre from the section where he was assigned duty. After it was learnt that Santikumar was at his home, the party captured him on November 9, 2024. After questioning and thorough examination of grave offences, Santikumar alias Tinsuba was awarded capital punishment at a location of NCTF, the outfit said.
