IMPHAL, Nov 22 : Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State Branch has appealed to one and all to not treat innocent children and women like spoils of war.
Speaking to the media at its office at Lamphelpat today, Dr RK Lenin, president of IMA (Manipur branch), said that armed people unleashing terrors upon innocent people especially women and children is unfortunate and unjustifiable.
Saying that there will be no victor in the ongoing conflict, Dr Lenin maintained that people taking on one another instead of focusing on development is unfortunate.
Continuing that lives of the people should be safeguarded both on humanitarian grounds and as per laws, the senior doctor further appealed to one and all to refrain from laying a hand on women and children.
"We should all work together to restore normalcy and facilitate communal harmony in Manipur," he appealed.
IMA, Manipur branch has been working at its level best to save lives amid the conflict, Dr Lenin continued.
He, meanwhile, said that the internet has become an indispensable part of social and professional life in modern society and shutting down the internet only aggravates the suffering of the people.
Saying that many people are facing serious inconvenience in seeking health care facilities at hospitals due to the restriction on internet services, Dr Lenin urged the Government to withdraw the ban on broadband and mobile data services.
