IMPHAL, Nov 21: Even as Manipur bagged a total of 5 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze, the State's U-17 girls have emerged team champions of the 68th National School Games Fencing at Jammu and Kashmir.
The State girls team clinched 4 gold and 1 bronze while the boys who ended up securing the 2nd position won 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.
On the last day of the tournament today, Manipur added one bronze to her tally.
Sh Zenith won the bronze in the boy's Epee individual event after he succumbed 9-15 in the semifinal against his rival from Bihar.
Yesterday, T Mangaleibi had won a gold in the girl's individual foil event and K Prithibiraj had bagged a silver medal in the boys individual foil event.
T Mangaleibi won the gold by defeating her rival from Haryana 15-11 in the final.
T Mangaleibi had earlier won a team gold medal with Maibam Geetarani, H Tonibia and L Thoithoi by defeating CBSE 15-11 in the girls' team foil final on the opening day.
K Prithibiraj bagged the silver in the boys individual foil event when he suffered a 11-15 loss to his rival from Punjab.
Earlier on the second day of the games, Prithibiraj along with Kh Rajiv, N Ratankumar and P Yoihenba bagged a gold in the team event by defeating Maharashtra 15-9 in the final.
P Ambika had clinched the U-17 girls individual sabre gold by defeating her rival from Haryana 15-14.
Girls' sabre team of P Baby Daina, P Ambika, Payal Ningombam and Priya Ningombam defeated Haryana 15-10 to win a gold.
Boys epee team of K Dronel, Tontang Hijam, Sh Zenith and H Nelson bagged a bronze after they suffered a 11-15 loss to Haryana in the semifinal.
The girls' epee team comprising N Jotirika Chanu, N Dibiya, N Jazzy and K Jenita suffered a 10-15 defeat against Haryana to settle for bronze.
