IMPHAL, Nov 20 : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has sought serious intervention of the Central Government to end the violence besetting Manipur.
The CPI (M) Central Committee, in a statement, said that the Government needs to work out a political settlement  which can restore peace in the State and safeguard the rights of all ethnic communities.
Claiming that it is Chief Minister N Biren Singh who is responsible for the deteriorating situation in Manipur right from the beginning, the Left party added that the Central Govt and the ruling BJP, unfortunately, have been refusing to remove him.
A situation has now arisen where the writ of the State Government and the administration does not run, it added.
Further stating that a grave situation has emerged in Manipur following a brief absence of violence due to killings and counter killings on ethnic lines, the CPI added that 20 people have been killed in various incidents since November 7.
The discovery of six bodies of women and children including a baby of  just eight months who were abducted earlier in a horrific incident has inflamed the situation in Manipur, the Left party continued while urging the Centre to intervene and  put an end to the cycle of violence in Manipur.
