Imphal, Nov 20 : The Government has blocked the official Facebook account of young climate activist Licypriya Kangujam for uploading posts against the recent murder of three women and three children after they were held captive by 'Kukis', said Licypriya in a statement.
She added that the six civilians which included one infant of eight months and two other children were murdered in the most horrific manner.
Some of the bodies showed signs of multiple sexual assaults while the corpse of a boy aged 2 was found with head and both arms missing as per a memorandum submitted to the United Nations by Meitei Alliance.
Licypriya continued that her Facebook account is being blocked under Section 69A of Information Technology Act, 2000 (emergency order) as per Meta (the company which owns and operates Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp among other products and services).
She further said that she may take an extreme decision and self immolate in front of Parliament if the restriction on her Facebook account is not withdrawn within three days.
She asserted that if blocking her account can bring peace in Manipur than she won't hesitate even to sacrifice her life.
Saying that the unrest in Manipur wouldn't have taken place in the first place had the Government done its job, Licypriya added that the insincerity of civil society organisations is also visible today. Local clubs and organisations who are supposed to be the vanguard of Manipur now pay more attention on safeguarding the seat of power of MLAs and Ministers, she said and added that the absence of a true leader is evident in contemporary Manipur society.
Blocking her Facebook account for condemning the atrocities of 'Kukis' clearly shows that the Government supports 'Kukis', she said and urged the Government to at once stop diverting the issue in Manipur.
