National School Games U-17 Fencing Mangaleibi wins gold, Prithibiraj settles for silver

IMPHAL, Nov 20 : T Mangaleibi won a gold as K Prithibiraj bagged a silver medal to swell Manipur's tally at the 68th National School Games Fencing for U-17 boys and girls to 5 gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
T Mangaleibi won the gold medal in the girls individual foil event as she defeated her Haryana rival 15-11 in the final today.
T Mangaleibi had earlier won a team gold medal with Maibam Geetarani, H Tonibia and L Thoithoi by defeating CBSE 15-11 in the girls' team foil final on the opening day.
K Prithibiraj in the meantime bagged the silver medal in the boys individual foil event with a 11-15 loss to his Punjab rival today. Earlier on the second day, Prithibiraj along with Kh Rajiv, N Ratankumar and P Yoihenba bagged a gold medal in the team event by defeating Maharashtra team 15-9 in the final.
Yesterday, P Ambika clinched the U-17 girls individual sabre gold by edging her Haryana rival 15-14 in a keenly contested final match.
Girls' sabre team of P Baby Daina, P Ambika, Payal Ningombam and Priya Ningombam also defeated Haryana team 15-10 to seal a gold medal.
Yesterday, the boys epee team comprising K Dronel, Tontang Hijam, Sh Zenith and H Nelson won a bronze medal as they slumped to a 11-15 loss to Haryana in a semi-final encounter.
The girls' epee team comprising N Jotirika Chanu, N Dibiya, N Jazzy and K Jenita had also went down 10-15 to Haryana in a semi-final match to earn a bronze medal.
