IMPHAL, Nov 19 : P Ambika clinched the U-17 girls individual sabre gold to take Manipur's tally at the 68th National School Games Fencing for U-17 boys and girls to four gold and two bronze medals.
The third day of the competition underway in Jammu and Kashmir saw Manipur's P Ambika edged her Haryana rival 15-14 in a keenly contested final match to seal the fourth gold medal for the State team.
The day also saw the boys epee team comprising K Dronel, Tontang Hijam, Sh Zenith and H Nelson settle for a bronze medal as they slumped to a 11-15 loss to Haryana in a semi-final encounter.
Earlier on the first day, T Mangaleibi, Maibam Geetarani, H Tonibia and L Thoithoi opened Manipur's gold medal account by defeating CBSE 15-11 in the girls' team foil final.
Yesterday, boys' foil team of Kh Rajiv, N Ratankumar, K Prithibiraj and P Yoihenba swelled the gold medal tally by defeating Maharashtra team 15-9 in the final as girls' sabre team of P Baby Daina, P Ambika, Payal Ningombam and Priya Ningombam defeated Haryana team 15-10 to seal the State's third gold medal.
The other bronze medal came yesterday with the girls' epee team comprising N Jotirika Chanu, N Dibiya, N Jazzy and K Jenita going down 10-15 to Haryana in a semi-final match.
