Senapati, Nov 1 : Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has inaugurated a 2 day exhibition cum traditional food buffet held under the theme "Peace through culture & identity) at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati.
The event is being organised by Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA).
Speaking as the chief guest, the Governor conveyed his Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba greetings to all the people of the State.
Expressing delight on visiting Senapati, Acharya said that the theme of the programme is very relevant.
He also said that Manipur is a State which is home to various communities and known for its diversity and unique cultural traditions.
Stating that every community is woven from different backgrounds, cultures and traditions, he added that people must accept differences and learn from each other to create a bond that transcends all divisions.
The Government also said that tolerance, dialogue and cooperation is imperative to bring about a peaceful future.
President of MANEDA, Kamba Moses in his welcome note, urged all to stand united in the quest for love and peace.
Greetings from the presidents of Naga People's Organization, Senapati District Students Association and Senapati District Women's Association were brought in the midst of the programme.
The Governor later planted a tree and also released a pigeon as a symbol of peace at the beginning of the program.
Different cultural items were also shown during the programme.
The Governor celebrated Diwali with the CRPF jawans at Senapati District Headquarters before inaugurating the exhibition.
