Cop shoots SI dead

IMPHAL, Nov 2 : A Sub Inspector of Manipur police was allegedly shot dead by a Rifleman at Mongbung po-lice station in Jiribam today at around 10 am.
The deceased has been identified as Md Sahajahan s/o (L) Md Ibocha of Yairipok Tabokpi while the accused is Akoijam Bikram s/o Dhananjoy of Naharup Pangong Makhong.
It is reported that Md Sahajahan had a verbal altercation with Bikram.
According to reliable information, the Rifleman took out a 303 Rifle and shot at the Sub Inspector after the altercation.
The Sub Inspector was rushed to Jiribam district hospital but he was declared dead by the doctors on arrival at the hospital. A team of Jiribam police rushed to the spot soon after the incident and arrested Bikram. He has been handed over to Jiribam police station. An inquest was conducted at the site of the incident and its surrounding areas by forensic experts. A case has been registered.
