Kumbi MLA rules out resignation for now

MOIRANG, Nov 17 : Even as the people have been mounting pressure on the Meetei legislators to make their position clear over the unfolding situation in Manipur, Kumbi AC MLA S Premchandra has said that the he will decide whether to resign or not based on the opinion of the people of his Constituency only.
He made the statement during a public meeting at Kumbi Constituency held today at Saiton Bazar.
Some resolutions were taken during the meeting today.
Preventing the Kumbi MLA from resigning and to let Premchandra work at his best capacity to restore normalcy in Manipur were the first and second resolutions.
The gathering also resolved that the MLA along with members of Municipal Council, Gram Panchayat and Zilla Parishad should make their position clear on the protracted crisis at the earliest.
Speaking at the meeting, the MLA contended that he will only do what the people of his Constituency aspire and won't pay attention to what others say.
He said that the State Government led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh has already urged the Centre to declare the group behind the brutal killing of three women and three children in Jiribam as a terrorist organisation and to withdraw AFSPA from the areas where the legislation has been reimposed.
Saying that the State Government led by N Biren has been facing the inimical force which want to disintegrate Manipur, he added that the Government won't spare any individual involved in criminal activities.
The meeting was also participated by members of Torbung Gram Panchayat, Saiton Gram Panchayat, Wangoo Terakhong Gram Pachayat, Wagoo Gram Panchayat and Kumbi Municipal Council.
