Fuel transportation suspended

IMPHAL, Nov 17: Following the gruesome murder of three women and three minor children in captivity by Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists and the subsequent break down of law and order in the State, transportation of petrol, diesel and LPG has been suspended.
It has been seven days since transportation of fuel including LPG has been suspended, sources said.
According to the sources, LPG stock at IOCL’s Sekmai bottling plant is running out except for a very small volume which must be reserved for emergency situations.
Under normal circumstances, the bottling plant used to supply 40 to 45 truck loads of refill cylinders to LPG distributors in a day. Since Thursday, the bottling plant has been issuing only 12 truck loads of refills in a day.
Only 12 truck loads of refills were released on Friday too and these refills were shared among 24 LPG distributors, said the sources.
Consequent upon cessation in transporting fuels, petrol stock in IOCL’s Malom is also depleting fast.
The available stock will last just around three days if it is not rationed to the retail outlets.
There will be no problem for diesel, the sources added.
