IMPHAL, Nov 15: The World Meetei Council (WMC), Assam Unit has appealed to the Chief Minister of Assam to withhold the release of the bodies of the slain Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists until all the abducted Hindu Meetei women and children are returned safely.
In a letter addressed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the WMC, Assam Unit  recalled that on November 11, 2024, in Jakuradhor, Jiribam, Manipur, a heinous act was committed by Chin Kuki Narco-Terrorists who abducted three women and three children, including an infant of only eight months.
On this same tragic day, the terrorists launched an assault on the Borobekra Police Station and CRPF personnel, resulting in severe injury to a CRPF jawan.
Valiant response by CRPF jawans resulted in the elimination of 11 Chin-Kuki Narco-Terrorists, with their bodies subsequently transported to Silchar Medical College for postmortem procedures, it said.
“We respectfully urge the Assam Government not to release the deceased individuals' bodies until the safe return of the abducted women and children is ensured”, the WMC Assam Unit wrote.
Their release would serve as a vital measure toward compelling the perpetrators to facilitate the safe reunion of these innocent victims with their families, it said.
It also highlighted the need for strengthened security along the Barak waterways, particularly from Fulertal and adjoining areas bordering Manipur.
Increased patrolling in these areas is essential to prevent further terrorist activities and protect vulnerable communities.
Furthermore, establishing a police outpost at Tupidhor, Assam, is highly recommended, as this area appears to be a strategic point for Chin-Kuki Narco-terrorist activities.
It further appealed to the Assam Chief Minister to take swift and decisive action in coordination with relevant law enforcement agencies to secure the immediate release of the abducted individuals, bring the perpetrators to justice, and enhance security in the affected regions.
