Ranji Trophy Plate Group Manipur restrict Sikkim to 336 in first innings, take 74-run lead at stumps on Day 3

IMPHAL, Nov 15 : Manipur were 53/3 at stumps on Day 3 to take a 74-run lead after restricting Sikkim to 336 in 109.2 overs of their first innings of the fifth Ranji Trophy Plate Group tie at Anand, Gujarat.
Manipur, who were put in to bat first, had erected 357 in 117.2 overs of the first innings thanks to Pheiroijam Jotin's 149, Langlonyamba Meitankeishangbam's 76 and Longjam Ronald's 40. Sikkim's Lee Yong Lepcha 3/76 and Palzor Tamang 2/42 shared 5 wickets in this innings as four others picked a wicket apiece.
Resuming the day at 190/5 (in 55 overs), Ankur Malik blazed 101 off 159 balls studded with 14 fours and 1 six to inspire Sikkim a first innings total of 336 runs to trail Manipur by just 21 runs. Earlier yesterday, Ashish Thapa (51 off 72 balls) and Parth Palawat (86 off 123 balls) scored half centuries.
Longjam Ronald (2/30), Kangabam Priyojit (2/32), Konthoujam Bishworjit (2/66), Pheiroijam Jotin (2/75) and Lamabam Ajay (2/80) were among the wickets to hold Sikkim to 336 today.
After the innings break, Manipur had a stuttering start and saw Karnajit Yumnam and Amom Guniram departing on ducks to Palzor Tamang in the third and sixth deliveries of the third over.
Ng Johnson was trapped lbw by Rohit More in the 15th over for the third wicket as the scoreboard read 30.
Longjam Ronald 27 and Kangabam Priyojit 12 were batting as Manipur closed out the third day at 53/3 in 28 overs.
