PCC vs ESU, RCA vs TRAU in N Rajningthou Singh Memorial Trophy semis

IMPHAL, Nov 14 : PCC, Mayaikoibi will play ESU, Wangkhei match while RCA, Lilong will play TRAU, Kwakeithel in the semi-final matches of the 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25 being organised by Manipur Cricket Association at four different venues.
In the first quarterfinal match of the tournament staged today at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, PCC overcame MPA, Thounaojam by 39 runs to book their semi-final ticket thanks to an all round performance from Maverick Wakambam.
PCC won the toss and added 194/3 in the allotted 32 overs thanks to Maverick Wakambam's unbeaten knock of 93-ball 94 and contributions from Lucky Thokchom 32, Pebam Yoimayai 28 and Rahis Khan 26.
For MPA, Ch Sitaranjan 1/23 and Ch Muhinikanta 1/35 were among the wickets before  their chase ended up at 155/9 in 32 overs despite fighting 61-ball 56 by Ch Muhinikanta.
For PCC, Maverick returned with a fifer (5/25) as Lucky, Rojer and Lamnganba shared three wickets.
Maverick was adjudged player of the match.
In the second quarter-final match staged at Moijing Public Ground, Hanjabam Donba and Hanjabam Naoba earned ESU an 8-wicket win over SSC, Porompat.
ESU opted to field first and dismissed SSC for 87 runs in 19.1 overs riding on Hanjabam Naoba 4/18, Soibam Venus 3/26 and Akoijam Sangba 2/17.
Hanjabam Donba then struck an unbeaten half century (51 off 41 balls) to guide ESU to winning 88 for 2 wickets in 13.2 overs.
Hanjabam Naoba was adjudged player of the match.
In the third quarter-final match staged at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong, RCA knocked out SHADOW, Thangmeiband by 5 wickets.
SHADOW elected to bat first but were bundled out for 85 in 26.3 overs by RCA's Zuned 4/23 and Nawaz Sharif 3/9.
In reply, Md Anush 30 and Md Safwan 17 led RCA to winning 86/5 in 20.3 overs.
Zuned who starred with a four wicket haul was adjudged player of the match.
Meanwhile in the last quarterfinal match of the tourney staged at Lairenjam Public Ground, TRAU sealed a 4-wicket win over AKSDO, Khangabok.
AKSDO won the toss and posted a competitive total of 175 runs for 8 wickets in 35 overs courtesy of Saikhom Lanchenba's 94-ball 89 but his effort went in vain as TRAU batters played sensibly to take their total to 176/6 in 34.2 overs.
For TRAU, Preethson Arubam 3/37 and Ringku Moirangthem 3/35 shared 6 wickets as Mutum Swabhiman finished with 2/19.
Huiningshumbam Luching 30, Ishorchandra Loitongbam 34, Mutum Swabhiman 22 were the lead run scorers for TRAU in the chase that saw N Bidyananda 2/30, A Punshiba 1/16, M Bishwonath 1/23 and Saikhom Dinesh 1/29 sharing five wickets for AKSDO.
Eventually TRAU set up the semi-final date with RCA as  Mutum Swabhiman bagged the player of the match accolade.
The semi-final matches are slated for November 16.
