IMPHAL, Nov 14 : Manipur posted a noteworthy first innings total of 357 runs in 117.2 overs before Sikkim closed out the second day at 190/5 in 55 overs to trail Manipur by 167 runs in the final tie of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group at at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand in Gujarat.
Resuming the second day at 286/6 after 90 overs, promising all-rounder Jotin Pheiroijam who was unbeaten on 127 added 22 more runs to his tally before he was caught behind on 149 off the Ronit More bowling in the 99th over.
RK Rex also added a fighting 30 off 30 balls and Amom Guniram scored 12 not out to help Manipur post 357 runs for the first innings.
Lee Yong Lepcha of Sikkim returned with the innings best bowling figures of 3/76 in his spell of 22.2 overs as Palzar Tamang registered 2/42 in 19 overs that include 6 maidens. Rohit More, Bhim Luitel, Ankur Malik and Parth Palawat also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
After the innings break, Sikkim saw opener and wicketkeeper Arun Chettri limp off hurt before Bishworjit Konthoujam found the breakthrough in removing Nilesh Lamichaney for 6 runs in 14.2 overs.
Ashish Thapa and Parth Palawat then gathered 68 runs in 17.3 overs for the second wicket partnership before Ashish was bowled out by Kangabam Priyojit Singh for 51 runs off 72 balls.
Parth Palawat then kept the scoreboard ticking and took Sikkim close to 200-run mark but his stay was cut short by Ronald Longjam for the 5th wicket at 86 after 53.2 overs as the scoreboard read 184.
Earlier to Parth's departure, Kangabam Priyojit bowled out Pranesh Chetri for 1 and Palzor Tamnang edged Prafullomani for 11 runs off Lamabam Ajay's fifth delivery of the 45th over.
Lee Yong Lepcha 14 and Rojit More 2 were batting as Sikkim closed the second day at 190/5 in 55 overs.
