IMPHAL, Nov 14 : Chief Minister N Biren Singh has reportedly assured to rescue the three women and three children who have been held captive by Kuki militants.
Notably, the Chief Minister met with the daughter of Yurembam Rani (60) who was abducted by Kuki militants along with five other family members on November 11.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Ningthou-jam ongbi Ibenoubi, daugh- ter of Rani, said that she requested the Chief Minister to rescue her mother, sisters and three children who have been missing since November 11.
Saying that the Government has no idea where they (the abductees) are as of now as per the Chief Minister, she added that the Chief Minister, nonetheless, assured to rescue them.
She said that she has been fasting from the moment her family members went missing and won't eat anything until her family members are released.
Former vice president of Jiribam Students' Forum, Imphal Laishram Itomba was with Ibenoubi while meeting the Chief Minister.
He said that people of Jiribam are suffering because the Govt didn't pay attention to their demand to deploy adequate security forces in the border district.
Saying that Borobekra will meet a fate similar to that of Moreh and Churachandpur if the Government relocates the Meeteis to other places, he urged the Government to instead deploy adequate security forces in the area and protect the lives and properties of the people.
He said that a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister during the meeting.
