Unwarranted, says NPP on abduction of women, children
IMPHAL, Nov 14 : The State unit of National People's Party (NPP) has appealed to 'Kuki-Zo and Hmar brethren' to instropect and deliberate on the present crisis arising out of the abduction of six Meetei individuals (three women and three children) by an armed Kuki group in Jiribam after attacking Borobekra police station and the CRPF camp at Jakuradhor Karong.
The NPP, in a statement issued by its National vice president Y Joykumar, said that a Kuki-Zo group imposed a 13 hour total shutdown as a response to the killing of 10 armed Kuki miscreants by security forces in Jiribam.
Saying that the deceased came to attack Borobekra police station and the CRPF camp at Jakuradhor, the party which is coalition partner of the ruling BJP added that the killing of the armed Kuki miscreants doesn't warrant the abduction of the women and children and the arson.
It also said that abducting civilians hinder any possible peace process.
Appealing to Kuki-Zo and Hmar people to intervene to save the lives of the abductees, the NPP also appealed to Jiribam MLA Md Ashabuddin, Tipaimukh MLA Ngursanglur Sanate and ex Tipaimukh MLA Dr Chatlonlien Amo who has considerable influence on Hmar people to put a maximum effort to bring a peaceful and satisfactory result to the present crisis.
The party appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Director General of Assam Rifles to defuse the situation and rescue the civilians from the custody of Kuki militants.
