MLA assures

IMPHAL, Nov 14: Harvesting activities at vulnerable areas under Lamlai Assembly Constituency will be carried out under the State forces' protection, said MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha.
He said this while inspecting harvesting activities at Thamnapokpi, Sanasabi, Sabungkhok Khunou and Shanti Khongbal today.
In the past few days, Kuki militants have fired on farmers at Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, Sabungkhok Khunou and Shanti Khongbal. To thwart such attacks in the future, farmers harvesting paddy will be provided security until the season is over, assured the MLA.
He said the fields in the valley region will be guarded by State forces while those of the hills will be guarded by the BSF and Indian Army.
He further informed that the duration of the harvesting will be from 9 am to 3 pm.
Urging farmers not to panic and harvest crops with a sense of security, he said, the Government is taking up strict actions to prevent all future attacks on farmers, civilians in the region.
He appealed to people to refrain from spreading rumours that may cause panic and chaos among the public.
