IMPHAL, Nov 14: The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has strongly condemned the abduction of 3 women and 3 minors from Jiribam.
In a statement, the Commission's Chairperson, Thumlip Tiningpham Mon-sang, Members Lourembam Dayabati Devi and T Chuongsin Koireng, Member Secretary W Phajatombi Devi and staff appealed for immediate and safe release of the abducted persons.
Notably, the six persons including women and children were abducted from Jiribam on November 11 when Kuki militants attacked civilian settlements and security posts in Jakuradhor Karong.
The attack killed two elderly men and resulted in the death of 10 Kuki militants in CRPF and police retaliation.
The six abducted have been identified as Yumlembam Rani Devi (60), Telem Thoibi Devi (31) and her daughter Telem Thajamanbi (8), Laishram Heitonbi Devi (25), her son Laishram Chingkheinganba (2), and her youngest child, Laishram Langamba (8 months).
The whereabouts and the status of the six remain unknown.
