Arms recovered in Jiri Ops

IMPHAL, Nov 14: Even as an incident of gunfight was reported from Mongbung in Jiribam today, security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from Champanagar.
Champanagar falls under Jiribam police station.
The search operation comes days after 10 Kuki militants were gunned down at Jakuradhor Karong in the district.
The search operation was carried out by a joint team of Jiribam commandos, the district police and CRPF personnel following an specific input about presence of armed elements in the area.
The operation started at around 4.40 am and wounded up at around 7 am.
Armed miscreants were not found in the area, however, the security forces recovered two double barrel 12 bore guns, one 2-inch mortar, 36 live barrel cartridges and five empty barrel cartridges.
During the search operation, CRPF personnel of the 87 Battalion and 156 Battalion were deployed for the outer cordoning of the area, said sources. The recovered items have been handed over to Jiribam police station for necessary investigation.
