PREPAK observes Martyrs Memorial Day

IMPHAL, Nov 12 : Together with the people, the proscribed PREPAK and its military wing the Red Army observed ‘Martyrs Memorial Day’ today.
Offering of gun salute and floral tributes at the tombs and memorial sites of the martyrs who have laid down their lives in the course of the liberation movement marked the day, said a press release issued by the outfit’s publicity officer, department of publicity and propaganda Mangal Khuman.
It also conveyed gratitude to all the people who made the Martyrs Memorial Day observation more meaningful by offering lamps at their residential gates in the evening in honour of the martyrs.
The main functions of the Martyrs Memorial Day were held at the outfit’s central headquarters, general headquarters, 707 mobile battalion, training centres and mobile units, it said.
At the Chqs, the observation was graced by the PREPAK Interim Council Chairman as chief guest and Charge d’ Affairs, Publicity and Propaganda as president.
At Ghqs, the Red Army CAS, Charge d’Affairs, Medical and Family Welfare Department and Red Army General Staff Officer (GSO)-2 attended the observation as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
There the Red Army Chief of Army Staff (CAS) lowered the party’s flag to half mast before the gathering observed silence for two minutes in honour of the martyrs.
Red Army cadres also gave gun salute to fallen heroes, it added.
