IMPHAL, Nov 12 : PCC, Mayaikoibi finished runaway Group A leaders as they handed Al-Ameen, Lilong a 5-wicket defeat for the fifth straight win in the 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25 at Moijing Public Ground today.
With the loss, their second in five matches, Al-Ameen finished third in the group standing and assured RCA, Lilong, who are holding second place off 3 wins in four matches, a place in the quarterfinals alongside group leaders PCC.
Al-Ameen were the toss winners today and decided to bat first. They were however bowled out for 167 runs in 26 overs and PCC, who have been unbeaten in four of four games, eased to the target in 27.3 overs with 5 wickets left to spare.
Al-Ameen had a shaky start to their innings and were reduced to 13/2 in 3.5 overs with Lucky Thokchom bowling out Maibam Ashique on 6 and Leishangthem Nelson removing Thoubalmayum Tahasil on a 6-ball duck.
Makakmayum Rashid Ahamed 24, Imtiyas Khan 42, Thoubal Mayum 20 and Shohel Akter 30 not out then gave their best to take Al-Ameen past the 150 run mark before they closed out the innings at 167 in 26 overs.
Nongmaithem Lamnganba 3/37 was instrumental in dismantling the middle order of Al-Ameen after Leishangthem Nelson undone Rashid Ahamed for the third wicket to finish with the figures of 2/24 in 6 overs while Rojer Laishram trapped Md Imtiyash Khan and Md Duwa Ali lbw on ducks to finish with the bowling figures of 2/22 in 5 overs.
Maverick Wakambam of PCC was also among the wickets as he bowled out Umar on 1 for the 5th wicket.
In reply, PCC also suffered early resistance from Al-Ameen bowlers but significant contributions from Maverick 45, Pebam Yoimayai 24, Rahis Khan 25, Dilshan 18 and Simon Konthoujam 13 not out helped PCC reach the target in 27.3 overs.
For Al-Ameen, Umar finished with the best bowling figures of 3/51 as Shohel Akter finished with the figures of 2/24.
Lamnganba Nongmaithem of PCC was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, TCMDC, Thongju defeated PTCC, Patsoi Part III by 3 wickets in an inconsequential Group D match for the second win in four matches.
PTCC were bundled out for 89 runs in 21.3 overs after electing to bat first as Surchand Sapam of TCMDC enjoyed a five-for in his spell of seven overs (5/30) and Sapam Nongshaba picked two (2/10 in 3.3 overs) to quicken the collapse.
L Vishonath, T Tomthinnganba and S Niraj also claimed a wicket apiece for TCMDC in this inning that saw Somobanta scoring highest 36 while other batters flopped.
Chasing 90 for the win, TCMDC lost 7 wickets but contributions from S Himan 18, S Niraj 16, Vishonath's unbeaten 29 and 24 extras were more than enough for them to reach 93 in 27.1 overs.
Surchand Sapam who starred with the ball was adjudged player of the match.
With the result, TCMDC are fourth on 4 points with a match left to play as PTCC capped their campaign on 4 points to finish third behind Group leaders TRAU and runners up SCC, Porompat.
