Addressing a press briefing at Hatta today, AMMOCOC president SM Jalal said that imposing a blockade along Imphal-Dimapur road has taken a heavy toll on every community living in Manipur.
He appealed to the Senapati based organisations which are imposing the blockade to understand the hardships being faced by the people and open the highway.
Stating that the unrest in Manipur has already completed the 18th month with no solution in sight till now, Jalal added that both Meeteis and Kukis are suffering due to the crisis besieging Manipur.
The economy of Manipur and the academic atmosphere have also been affected by the violence, he pointed out and added that the future of Manipur is still uncertain.
Continuing that the price of essential  items has skyrocketed, he added that scarcity of essential and  household items is another problem which the people of Manipur have been enduring apart from inflation.
The blockade being imposed by the frontal organisations of Senapati along Imphal-Dimapur road has aggravated the suffering of the people, Jalal continued while appealing to the organisation to withdraw the blockade.
Stating that States like Manipur rely on National Highways, Jalal said that  different organisations blocking National Highways for different reasons and making the people suffer is very wrong.
Stop the practice of imposing blockade along the highways, he said while appealing to all organisations to take out a democratic protest if they have any grievances.
