Pambei-led UNLF condoles

IMPHAL, Nov 9: The Pambei-led UNLF and its military wing MPA have condoled and offered revolutionary salute at the sudden demise of its Liaison Officer, Lieutenant Kanga-bam Idom alias Santosh alias Maung Naing on November 7 at a foreign base of the party.
Comrade Lieutenant Idom had been hospitalised for personal health issues in a hospital near the base of his posting where he was assigned party duty outside Manipur.
As his health condition worsened and became critical, he was arranged to be transferred to another hospital. While arranging to transfer him, he suddenly passed away at around 12.30 am, said a press release issued by the outfit’s Media Coordinator Charairongba  Thokchom
Comrade Idom grew up with a deep feeling of love for his motherland and his people. He dedicated himself to the party from his early days. He arrived for proper training in 2003 to join the party at the training centre.
After completing his BMT training, he was given the service number 1780 in the 29th batch BMT of the MPA.
After training, he was posted as part of a mobile team task force of the MPA at Churachandpur, Barak, and Tamenglong under some commanders from September 2004 to November 2005.
Then, he was transferred to 242 Bn in July 2006 and again transferred to 293 Bn in February 2007. Later on, in 2008, he was transferred to the GHQ and started working there. He was then transferred to 241Bn in May 2008 and to 291Bn in 2010.
From November 2011 to 2014, he acted as the Military Intelligence (MI) of the army in 292Bn. From January 2015 to 2020 he acted as the Military Intelligence (MI) in the 241 Bn. After that, the party posted him as the Liaison Officer at a base located in a foreign land for a specific task.
For his enduring sacrifices and services rendered to the party, Lt Idom received due recognition and promotion.
On 9th February 2015, he was given the rank of Sergeant by the GHQ and on 9th February 2017, he was promoted to Sergeant Major.
Later on, comrade Idom was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant by the MAC, and he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 9th February 2021.
Lt Kangabam Idom was born on 23rd March 1982 in Moreh Ward No. 9 as the youngest son among the four children of (L) Kangabam Ranjan and Taruni.
Lieutenant Kangabam Idom, as a revolutionary was a disciplined, well-mannered and devoted comrade who performed every responsibility of the party with fervour, dedication and enthusiasm. He exercised admirable command and control. He had a friendly nature and could mingle with everyone.
He possessed organisational skills and could prioritise and manage every task astutely. Apart from that, he was loyal to the army, party, masses and the motherland as a dedicated MPA officer, the outfit said.
Lt Idom is survived by his wife and his three young children.
The UNLF condoles and shares the grief and sorrow of Lt Idom's demise with the bereaved family, friends and relatives.
“May our brave and beloved warrior rest forever in peace in the lap of our motherland and may his sacrifices ignite the light of freedom and revolution in WESEA”, it added.
