IMPHAL, Nov 9 : SHADOW, Thangmeiband notched up their five of five Group (B) stage victory by beating YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel by 14 runs in the 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25.
The win inspired by Devis Khunjamayum's century and Arubam Goshan's five-for eventually helped SHADOW finish group winners and qualify for the quarterfinals.
SHADOW were put in to bat first at Khangabok Public Ground and racked up a modest total of 206/9 in 35 overs thanks to a 97-ball 118 knock by Devis Khunjamayum and 32 extras.
SHADOW then defended their total by bowling out YUCC for 192 runs in 32.2 overs to seal the victory thanks to a Arubam Goshan 5/35 and Sagatpam Telheiba 2/49.
For YUCC, K Malangbam 4/32 and Rajbir Khumanthem 2/36 led the bowling attack before Ricky 71 and Rajbir 36 displayed sensible batting performances in a lost cause.
Devis Khunjamayum was adjudged player of the match.
The day also saw PCC, Mayai Koibi and TRAU, Kwakeithel cruise to fourth straight victory and go atop their Group A and D tables respectively.
In the Group A match staged today at Lairenjam Public Ground got the better of RCA, Lilong by 5 wickets thanks to Lucky Thokchom's all round performance.
Lucky 5/20, Rojer Laishram 2/17 and Leishangthem Nelson 2/6 devastated toss winners-RCA line up and bowled them out for 63 runs in 23.2 overs.
Lamnganba 15 not out, Lucky Thokchom 11 and Rahis Khan not out 9 take PCC to winning 64/5 in 20.5 overs. For RCA, Nawaz Sharif 2/18 and Md Irfan 2/11 shared for wickets.
Lucky was declared player of the match.
At Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong, TRAU registered an emphatic 137 run victory against TCMDC, Thongju.
Opting to bat first TRAU amassed 291 for 3 wickets in 35 overs courtesy of Huiningshumbam Luching's century knock (110-ball 113) and half century knocks from Mutum Swabhiman (88 off 41 balls) and L Ishorchandra (60 off 62 balls).
After a dominating batting display, TRAU dismissed TCMDC for 154 runs in 32.5 overs as Mutum Swabhiman 3/19, Preethson Arubam 2/17 and Tyrus Chabungbam 2/26 shared seven wickets to rattle the Thongju team.
M Swabhiman who shone with both the bat and ball was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground in Thoubal, AKSDO, Khangabok thrashed SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai by 8 wickets for the third win in four matches and to go atop Group C table.
SCCC opted to bat first but were dismissed for 44 runs within 17.2 overs as AKSDO's Saikhom Lanchenba 3/6, Bishwonath Moirangthem 2/14 and Chingamba Elangbam 2/1 ran through their line up before chasing down the target in 5.4 overs.
Borish Khundrakpam 21 topscored for AKSDO in the chase as Rojesh scored highest 20 for SCCC.
Saikhom Lanchenba was declared player of the match.
