UG cadres remanded to police custody

IMPHAL, Oct 31: Six active members of KCP Nongdrenkhomba who were formally arrested by Imphal police station in connection with an attempt to kidnap RK Echanthoibi from her shop on October 10 night have been remanded in police custody for seven days till November 6.
The accused persons have been identified as Loushangbam Alin (26) s/o (L) Bayron of Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Konsam Rohit (23) s/o Gonendro of Patsoi Part I, Sanju Wahengbam alias Lemba (20) s/o (L) Sanjoy of Palace Compound Mahabali Mamang, Phanjoubam Thoiba Mangang alias Malemnganba (26) s/o (L) Jiten of Thongju Part II, staying at Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai at present, Waikhom Hero (21) s/o Iboyaima of Takhel Mamang Leikai and Yanglem Bikash alias Amujao 23 s/o (L) Hemanta of Singjamei Yanglem Leikai.
They were produced before the Court of CJM Imphal West after completion of police custody period in connection with another case registered at Imphal police station with hurling a hand grenade at the residence cum shop of RK Echanthoibi on October 13 night.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the Special PP and on perusal of the material on record, remanded them in judicial custody till November 14.
In the meantime, a team of Imphal police station filed an application for formal arrest of all six of them in connection with another case registered at the same police station regarding an attempt to kidnap RK Echanthoibi from her shop on October 10 by some unknown miscreants numbering around five.
The Court, on perusal of the application, allowed Imphal police station to make formal arrest of the six active members of KCP Nongdrenkhomba.
After making formal arrest of the six cadres, they were produced before the Court along with a prayer to remand them in police custody for seven days and the Court granted the prayer.
