IMPHAL, Nov 1 : Al-Ameen, Lilong notched up their third straight Group A win in the ongoing 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25 as they beat KASC, Khomidok by 86 runs at Lairenjam Public Ground.
Maibam Ashique produced an all-round performance to earn Al-Ameen the third win today and was eventually named player of the match.
Al-Ameen won the toss and piled up 170 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 30 overs thanks to a half century knock from Imtiyas Khan (54 off 46 balls; 8 fours, 2 sixes) and 78-ball 42 by Maibam Ashique.
The duo were the only batters who managed double digit figures in this innings as Md Sakif Hussain (3/25) led the bowling attack for KASC.
In reply, KASC managed to add 84 runs to their tally with two wickets left to spare as Thoubalmayum Aarish (2/25), Shohel Akter (2/10) and Maibam Ashique (2/9) led frugal bowling attack for Al-Ameen.
In a Group B league match, Irom Ishor scored an unbeaten half century to help YPHUC, Lalambung Makhong beat YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel by 1 wicket in a very close fight for the second win in three matches at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong.
YUCC were able to post 172/9 in 35 overs after opting to bat first thanks to Ninthoujam Kenedy's 46-ball 61, N Reshan 24, Loitongbam Joychand 23 not out and M Amitkiyon 17.
The innings saw Purujit Mutum (2/28), Birbal Irom (2/22) and Irom Ishor (2/31) sharing 6 wickets as Konsam Mangal and Irom Sunny picked a wicket apiece.
Chasing 173 for the win, YPHUC had a shaky start and were reduced to 57/5 in 11 overs before Irom Ishor stood firm to anchor with slow but significant 66 to steer YPHUC to winning 175 with four balls and 1 wicket left to spare.
Irom Ishor was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, ESU defeated AKSDO, Khangabok by 3 wickets for two of two Group C victories in a low scoring encounter.
AKSDO gathered a modest total of 118/7 in the allotted 30 overs and ESU cruised to winning 119 in 25.5 overs with three wickets left in hand.
Chingamba Elangbam topscored with 85-ball 47 for AKSDO in the innings that saw Hanjabam Donba (2/15) and Thokchom Simesh (2/20) claiming two wickets apiece for ESU.
In reply, Hanjabam Donba Sharma (37) and Soibam Venus (20 not out) led the batting charge to guide ESU to the target in 25.5 overs.
Donba Sharma was eventually adjudged player of the match.
TCMDC, Thongju meanwhile kicked off their Group D campaign with a commanding 10-wicket win over CYSA, Khangabok.
CYSA opted to bat first and were bowled out for 152 runs in 22.5 overs despite Wangmem Aijak's remarkable knock of 52-ball 62 and Wangmem Atomba's 36-ball 42 as TCMDC bowlers and fielders were in impressive form today.
Vishonath was the pick of TCMDC bowlers finishing with the best haul of 3/17 in 4.5 overs as S Nongshaba, S Surchand and S Niraj picked up a wicket apiece.
In reply, the opening 50-run partnership off 22 overs between Waikhom Mathoi 80 off 78 balls and Sanasam Himan 37 off 54 balls was more than enough for TCMDC to register the win.
Waikhom Mathoi was eventually adjudged man of the match.
