MCPCR takes note

IMPHAL, Oct 9: The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken a suo moto cognizance of the incident in which a mother along with her daughter were found dead in mysterious circumstances at Lilong.
Ningombam ningol Bansanti Devi, wife of late Adhikarimayum Thouba Sharma and her 4-year-old daughter Lanchenbi were found lying dead on their bed inside their house at Lilong Haoreibi in the morning of September 23 last.
In a statement, the MCPCR said members of the Commission led by its Chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar conducted a spot visit to the locality on October 1 and met some residents and representatives of a JAC formed in connection with the incident and heard their statements.
Taking into consideration the gravity of the incident, the State Commission has recommended Superintendent of Police, Imphal West to ensure a speedy and impartial investigation for the sake of justice and directed to furnish an action taken report to the Commission at the earliest, said the MCPCR.
