Thadous line up convention

IMPHAL, Oct 7:  The Thadou Community International (TCI) and the Thadou Students' Association (TSA) are organising a convention with the objective "to assert the distinction of Thadou tribe".
The "Thadou Convention" to be held from October 31 to November 3, will be held at Guwahati, said the Thadou Community International (TCI) in a statement.
The objective of the convention is to bring about unity of members and leaders of the Thadou community and to assert the distinct identity of the Thadou tribe, it said.
The convention aims to protect and secure the best interests of Thadou, maintaining the distinct identity of Thadou tribe without any prefix or suffix, it added.
The convention will assert the importance of Thadou in bringing solution to the Manipur violence and highlight the same to the Government and relevant authorities and all stakeholders, said the TCI.
Further, it said, the convention will seek to establish a legitimate Thadou-centred unified apex body of the Thadou tribe which will represent the interests of the Thadou community in Manipur.
Mention may be made here that the president of TSA had come under repeated attacks recently.
