Fitting tributes paid to late colleague

IMPHAL, Oct 7 : Members of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors' Guild, Manipur condoled the demise of Satyajit Usham, Assistant Editor of The People's Chronicle. He was also a senior member of AMWJU.
A condolence  meeting was held today at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul. Members of AMWJU, EGM, family members and  close friends of Satyajit paid rich floral tributes at the portrait of  the late scribe.
Later, AMWJU president, Bijoy Kakchingtabam  and Editors' Guild president, Khogendra Khomdram presided a  condolence meeting at Thangjing Hall.
Speaking at the meeting, Sagolsem Imo, Editor of People's Chronicle said that Satya was a very humble and well mannered man and his departure  will be a huge  loss which cannot be filled.
President of the EGM, Khogendra Khomdram said Satya  worked at The Sangai Express for a very long time. During  his working days, he never had any complaint from his colleagues. His sudden demise is a big loss for the media fraternity.
AMWJU president, Bijoy Kakchingtabam added that Satya was a man of integrity. He was known for his honesty and work ethics.
A two minute silence was observed later for the departed soul.
Satyajit Usham 50 who hailed from Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai died yesterday left behind two sons and his wife Memthoi Takhellambam.
After completing his Master’s degree in English from Delhi University, Satyajit first joined “Matamgi Yakairol” newspaper and later worked in The Sangai Express, Huiyen Lanpao and later the People's Chronicle as Assistant Editor. In 2013, he won the Manipur State Journalist Award for Best Editor given by the DIPR while he was with Huiyen Lanpao.
