Kuki militants launch fresh attack

IMPHAL, Oct 7: After a lull of some days, Kuki militants launched fresh attacks at Meitei villages of Shanti- khongbal and Thamnapokpi in the periphery of Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts under Yaingangpokpi police station at around 7 pm today.
According to sources, Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons fired upon the Meitei villages from the nearby hill range and tried to advance toward the Meitei villages.
Village volunteers who have been guarding the village retaliated by firing some rounds to prevent the Kuki militants from advancing toward the Meitei villages.
On receiving reports about the attack, security personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
There is no report of any injury on the side of the village volunteers and security personnel during the attack, said the sources.
