Training programme on 'Entrepreneurship Development through Scientific Pig Farming' kicks off

IMPHAL, Oct 7 : A 3-Days Training Programme on "Entrepreneurship Development through Scientific Pig Farming in Northeast India" kicked off today at the conference hall of College of Agriculture (CoA), Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The training programme was organised by All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Pig, Manipur Centre, CAU, Imphal in collaboration with Manipur Progressive Pig Farmers' Association (MAPPFA), Tairenpokpi Mamang Leikai under the sponsorship of ICAR- NRC on Pig, Rani, Guwahati.
The inaugural function was graced by Dr Kh Chaoba Singh, OSD (Finance), CAU, Imphal and former Director, Veterinary Department, Government of Manipur; Ningthoujam Lokendro Singh, president MAPPFA and Dr Y Damodar, Head, Department of Animal Sciences, CoA, Iroisemba as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kh Chaoba appealed to the farmers to participate in the training programme with enthusiasm and learn new knowledge/ skills to improve their farming activities.
He asserted that scientific knowledge is constantly being revised and refined, it is not rigid or unchanging; rather, it evolves based on new evidence, discoveries and insights.
He shared that CAU Imphal is one of the biggest universities in South East Asia with 13 constituent colleges across seven States in the North East Region of India.
"We must feel pride to have such a prominent University in Manipur where scientists and professors are constantly making new breakthroughs in agri & allied sectors for the betterment of all", he added.
As part of the event, seven Leaflets were also released.
Altogether, 43 farmers are participating in the 3-days training programme.
