Book calls out geo-politics in conflict

IMPHAL, Oct 6: A book entitled “Ethnicity and Geopolitics: Ramifications on North East" published by National Research Centre, was released in Kirorimal College, Delhi University today.
The book release programme was organised by the Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee.
Dr Arabam Noni, co-editor of the book, Dr Suraj Mandal, Swami Sardanand College, DU, historian Dr Ratan Lal, Hindu College, Dr Seram Rojesh, convenor, DMCC and Sangeeta Keisam, spokesperson of DMCC attended the programme.
On the occasion, Dr Mandal expressed his dissatisfaction over the continued ethnic tension in Manipur.
He highlighted the power politics of multinational corporations and its nexus with regional powers.
Dr Mandal also spoke on the need for a plural State and multi-ethnic State Manipur.
He also talked about the interests of the global and regional powers in the region's rich mineral resources.
Historian Dr Ratan expressed that the book would be significant for making people understand North East India better.
He viewed that the absence of North East in the consciousness of mainland India is a structural problem in the education system. He suggested the book be translated in Hindi.
Dr Seram Rojesh discussed how the people of Manipur were divided and violence was not contained.
He viewed the book, co-edited by Dr Arambam Noni and Dr Sapam Dilip, as a significant contribution towards a way forward in Manipur.
