Accused in abduction case arrested in another case

IMPHAL, Oct 5: Imphal police have formally arrested Israr Khan (32), an accused in the abduction of Sarangthem Somorendro, Personal Assistant of CAF&PD Minster L Sushindro.
The formal arrest relates to another case registered at Imphal police station in February 2024.
He was formally arrested by the Imphal police after taking permission from the Special Court NIA Imphal East.
In the NIA Court today, Israr Khan, son of (L) Md Tayeb Ali, was produced before the Court by a team of Porompat police after completion of police custody period along with a prayer for judicial custody in connection with the abduction case.
The PA was abducted from Khurai Sajor Leirak, Imphal-Ukhrul Road on September 20.
While the Court remanded the accused to judicial custody till October 19, Imphal police filed an application with the Court to make formal arrest of the accused in connection with an FIR registered with the Imphal police station in February 2024.
The Court, on perusal of the application, allowed the Imphal police to make the arrest.
