IMPHAL, Oct 30 : The 2nd edition of Wushu Championship organised by the Indian Army under operation Sadbhavana concluded today at Kha Potsangbam Nachou in Bishnupur district today.
The 5-day event saw participation of 180 athletes including 75 girls across different age groups- Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior compete for top honours.
The closing ceremony was attended by GOC, Red Shield Division along with army officers and distinguished dignitaries, said PRO PIB Defence Wing in a press release.
Various cultural performances including Thang-Ta, Taolu demonstration and unarmed combat display by the army were also displayed during the closing ceremony, it said.
The event received widespread appreciation from the local community, it said.
Through such sporting events, the Indian Army reaffirms its commitment to promoting sports, fitness and community engagement nurturing the region's vibrant culture and youth potential, it added.
