TIC presents case to PM

IMPHAL, Oct 30 : The Thadou Community International (TIC) has presented an overview of their peace initiatives addressing the ongoing Manipur crisis to the Prime Minister of India via the India's High Commission Office, London.
The TIC in a release stated that it had submitted a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister, highlighting the plight of the Thadou people due to the ethnic conflict in Manipur, the focal point being TCI's efforts to promote peace, harmony and reconciliation in Manipur.
The TCI apprised the High Commissioner of India on Thadou tribe's distinct pre-colonial identity, cultural and historical heritage.
The TCI also emphasized the human rights concerns and social injustices faced by the Thadou community in the current Manipur crisis.
"The Thadou people have been subdued and marginalized since long and they have been the most affected victims but silenced in this current conflict," it said.
The TCI further stated that the violence will only widen the rift and eventually affect the younger generations for decades to come.
"Although misunderstandings have led to violence, mutual respect and understanding through dialogues will subsequently bring lasting peace and harmony as all the communities have to live together," it said.
It said the TCI trust in standing together for peace, justice and mutual co-existence and it will be a significant step towards collaborative efforts for finding solutions for the Manipur crisis.
The TCI continued that it remains committed to promoting peace, non-violence, justice and human rights.
"Collective action and inclusive dialogue are essential for resolving the complex issues underlying the conflict." said TCI.
