5th N Rajningthou Memorial Trophy SHADOW beat YPHU for second win as ESU, PCC open league campaign with comprehensive victories

IMPHAL, Oct 29 : SHADOW, Thangmeiband defeated YPHU, Lalambung by 17 runs for their second win in the 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial Trophy as ESU, Wangkhei and PCC, Mayaikoibi kicked off league campaign with comprehensive victories today.
In the Group B match staged at Khudeiband Lampak in Taothong, SHADOW were bowled out for 139 runs in 31.1 overs but successfully defended their total by bowling out YPHUC for 122 runs in 26.2 overs.
Devis Khunjamayum (23) Sagatpam Lanchenba (22) and Arubam Goshan (18 not out) were the leading run getters for SHADOW after they won the toss and opted to bat first.
The innings saw Birbal Irom (6/24) and Irom Sunny (3/260 sharing 9 wickets for YPHU but their efforts went in vain as their batting order faltered badly and slumped to 122 in the chase. Only Irom Ishor 41 and Birbal Irom 19 were the double digit run getters for YPHUC.
Sagatpam Telheiba (3/23) and Sagatpam Lanchenba (3/19) led the bowling attack for SHADOW in this innings as Arubam Goshan and Ng Reyan David picked a wicket apiece.
Sagatpam Lanchenba who produced an all-round performance was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, PCC crushed YESSDAN, Ningthoukhong by 273 runs to open their Group A winning account thanks to Lucky Thokchom and Lamnganba Nongmaithem.
Electing to bat first, PCC erected a massive total of 293 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 35 overs riding on a 47-ball 107 struck by Lucky Thokchom and significant contributions from Lamnganba Nongmaithem 36, Maverick Wakambam 29 and Rahis Khan 26.
Lamnganba then picked 6 wickets (6/1 in 4.2 overs) to set up YESSDAN collapse at 20 within 14.2 overs. Ziad Khan also claimed 2 wickets (2/1 in 2 overs) to hasten the end of the chase.
For YESSDAN, H Bungo (2/36) and M Anderson (2/37) shared four wickets before they had a forgetful chase.
Lamnganba was eventually adjudged player of the match.
ESU, in the meantime, pulled off an emphatic 218 run victory against SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai at Moijing Public Ground to kickstart their Group C campaign in style.
Opting to bat first, ESU piled up 279 runs for all wickets down in 30 overs thanks to a half century knock by Hanjabam Naoba Sharma (39-ball 58; 9 fours) before restricting SCCC to 61 all out in 21.3 overs riding on Yumkham Yoirelba (6/11 in 4.3 overs) and Akoijam Sangba (3/17 in 5 overs).
Hanjabam Donba 38, Sandham Abhinash 26 and Akoijam Sangba 25 also made significant contributions to ESU's tally in a innings that saw Th Borish of SCCC picked four wickets (4/54) and Moirangthem Johnson (2/45) and Abdur Rahman (2/46) shared four wickets.
Konthoujam Tomthinganba 20 and Th Borish 12 were the only double digit run getters for SCCC in reply as 6 others departed on ducks.
Yumkham Yoirelba was adjudged player of the match.
