Ranji Trophy Plate Group Manipur suffer an innings and 20-run defeat to Mizoram

IMPHAL, Oct 29 : Manipur suffered an innings and 20-run defeat to Mizoram in their third match of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group 2024-25 at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium, Nadiad in Gujarat.
Resuming their second innings (follow-on) at 149/5 in 40.1 overs, Manipur could add only 97 runs today in another 35.2 overs to end up collecting 516 runs in two innings. Mizoram, having racked up 536 runs in their first innings courtesy of a double ton from Agni Chopra (218) and half centuries from Jehu Anderson (67), Mohit Jangra (60), Vikash Kumar (55) eventually sealed commanding win.
Pheiroijam Jotin who resumed in the innings on 37 off 47 balls this morning, tried his best to anchor by forging a 30 run partnership with Prafullomani (25) for the 6th wicket and 24-run partnership with Sultan Karim (7) for the 7th wicket. Both the batters were bowled out by Mohit Jangra.
Jotin's effort ended when was removed on 67 off 128 balls (8 fours) for the 8th wicket by KC Cariappa as the scoreboard read 241. His departure marked the end of the Manipur struggle as Bobby Zothansanga removed RK Rex on 20 for the 9th wicket and KC Cariappa trapped Ahsanul Kabir on a 5-ball duck for the 10th wicket.
KC Kariappa of Mizoram finished with the best haul of 4/90 in 32.3 overs that included 8 maidens as Mohit Jangra finished with the bowling figures of 3/62 in 26 overs containing 6 maidens. Moses Ramhlunmawia, Bobby Zothansanga and Joseph Lalthankhuma also picked a wicket apiece.
Manipur will play Arunachal Pradesh in the fourth match from November 6 at ADSA Railways Cricket Ground, Ahmedabad.
