S Nadia, Th Dayanand bag top honours in 1st DCA U-15 Blitz Chess Tournament

IMPHAL, Oct 3 : Sougaijam Nadia and Thoudam Dayananda secured girls and boys' titles in the 1st DCA U-15 Boys and Girls Blitz Chess Tournament organised by the 1st DCA U-15 Blitz Chess Tournament 2024 organised by D Chess Academy at Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, Imphal West.
Nadia Sougaijam of Heritage Convent scored 5 points to secure the girls' title as Potsangbam Nistha of UNACCO School, Khongman (BH 16) and Nongthombam Jojo of Nirmalabas School Jr (BH 12.5) scored 4 identical points to finish second and third.
Ira Shankar (2 pts) of UNACCO School, Khongman and Nameirakpam Lorena of Pitambara English School (2 pts) and Hanjabam Rajasmita of Nirmalabas High School (3 pts) also topped the U-7, U-9 and U-11 girls' competitions which was participated by 14 players from 9 schools.
Thoudam Dayanand of Shishu Nistha Niketan in the meantime topped the U-15 boys' competition scoring 6 points as Yaikhomba Huidrom of Catholic School (BH 22) and Sougaijam  Lemba of Ramakrishna Mission School (20 pts) finished second and third by securing 5 points.
Leirikhomba Mangang of Shishu Nistha Niketan (4 pts), Elangbam Mangal of Heritage Convent (4.5 pts) and Lourembam Stanley Meethoiba (3.5 pts) were also emerged toppers in the U-7, U-9 and U-11 boys categories respectively.
The closing ceremony cum prize distribution programme was attended by Wangkheirakpam Jayanta, Salam Imocha and Thingbaijam Biju, ex-joint secretary of AICF as dignitaries.
