Awareness programme held

THOUBAL, Oct 29 : A one-day awareness programme was held at the seminar hall of Waikhom Mani Girls' College at Thoubal Okram as a part of International Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Physics, Waikhom Mani Girls' College and the Department of Radiation Oncology, RIMS Imphal.
The event was graced by Dr B Arunkumar Sharma, Nodal Officer, Breast Cancer Awareness Program, Department of Radiation Oncology, RIMS Imphal as the chief guest; Professor H Manoranjan Sharma, Principal, Waikhom Mani Girls' College as the functional president and Dr L Purnima, Associate Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, RIMS Imphal and Dr A Ronibala, Senior Resident, Department of Radiation Oncology, RIMS Imphal as the guests of honour.
Speaking as resource persons, Dr L Purnima and Dr A Ronibala educated the gathering about breast cancer, how it develops, methods of detection and treatment.
They also fielded many questions on the topic from the audience.
Meanwhile, Nodal Officer Dr B Arunkumar said that the programme was conducted to bring awareness among the students about the prevalence of breast cancer among girls/women.
