IMPHAL, Oct 24 : The All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) has urged the Government of India (GoI) to stop its divide and rule policy in Manipur using a group of armed militants.
Addressing the 35 foundation of AMAWOVA at GM Hall today, Y Kunjarani, president of the Association, claimed that the unrest plaguing Manipur since May 3, 2023 is the handiwork of the GoI.
She urged the Centre to rein in the group of militants who allegedly have their (GoI) support.
Saying that the State Government and people of Manipur should be cautious of the discreet agenda of the Centre which aims to create division among the people, Kunjarani appealed to all the elected representatives to work as one to safeguard Manipur and stop scheming to take political mileage.
Now is not the time to do petty politics, she said.
How India sees Manipur is questionable, she said and further urged the GoI to stop its divisive policy.
Every community has a role to play to safeguard Manipur, she added.
Kunjarani, meanwhile, said that Meetei families should not compete on presenting precious gift during the Ningol Chakkouba festival which falls on November 3.
Don't rely on imported goods but present local items and celebrate the festival of family union in its true essence, she appealed.
AMAWOVA was established on October 24, 1989.
