Bandh ultimatum served

THOUBAL, Oct 23 : The Joint Action Committee Against Kidnapping of Akoijam Angou, has announced that it will impose a 48 hour Thoubal district general strike from 5 am of October 25, if the State Government fails to fulfil the demands of the JAC by October 24.
Speaking at a protest event held at Thoubal Keithel today, JAC spokesperson Sanjembam Sorojini said that on September 30, at around 6 pm, Akoijam Angou was abducted by 3/4 unknown persons from Uripok near Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School.
A complaint was filed with the police, but even after 24 days, the authorities have failed to trace the whereabouts of Angou, she said.
The JAC served 24 October as the deadline to find the whereabouts of Akoijam Angou, failing which will result in a 48 hour general strike starting from 5 am of October 25 said the JAC.
On the other hand, the JAC said that, all essential services will be exempted from the bandh and urged all the meira paibis, clubs, organisations of the district to extend all possible support, it said.
