Curfew imposed at Tuibong

IMPHAL, Oct 23 : District Magistrate Churachandpur has imposed curfew at Tuibong Sub-Division today to prevent any kind of unwanted incident during the 12 hour bandh imposed by various Kuki Zo groups against the alleged molestation of a minor girl by a non local shopkeeper at Tuibong area on October 1.
People in large numbers came out on the street in the morning and disrupted normal traffic movement along different roads at Tuibong by placing hard objects.
The protesters also burnt logs at Tuibong Bazar demanding justice for the minor victim.
Security forces were deployed at different junctions to prevent any kind of unwanted incident during the shut down.
Sources said that the cosmetic shop of the accused who is identified as Jakir has been dismantled by the mob during the shutdown.
It is reported that Jakir molested the minor girl on October 1 inside his cosmetic shop and a complaint was lodged against him recently
It is reported that the accused has surrendered before Churachandpur women police station in connection with the case and the police have registered a case under Section 8 of POCSO Act against him.
