IFC rally to hold CHIKL in 8-goal thriller, finish third in IW Super Division League

IMPHAL, Oct 20 : IFC, Lamphel produced an impressive comeback from 3 goals down in the first half to hold CHIKL, Lilong Chajing to a 4-4 draw in the ultimate match of the 24th Super Division Football League organised by the Imphal West District Football Association.
With the draw, IFC were able to finish third in the league table on 7 points behind league winners SDC, Samurou (15 points off 5 matches) and runners up SFC, Tera (10 points off 5 matches). CHIKL, meanwhile, finished fourth in the 6-team competition on 4 points off a win and a draw in five matches.
CHIKL, who suffered a slender 0-1 loss to SFC in the previous match, had the better start today at PAMYAL ground, Patsoi and entered into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead as Bikramjit scored a brace in a span of four minutes (37', 41') after Indrajit opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
IFC, Lamphel who missed their chances in the first half, however entered the field with more purpose after the break and saw Ngayungmi quickfired two goals back to back in the 47th and the 49th minute to make it 2-3. Relentless, IFC then pulled level in the 56th minute through Obed but Gladen's own goal in the 68th minute gave CHIKL the advantage.
IFC, however, did not slacken back and managed to come to level terms courtesy of Thuinganing's 72nd minute strike.
It was an end to end affair in the remainder of the game with both teams searching for the lead. Their efforts however did not yield result and eventually ended up sharing a point apiece.
