Ranji Trophy Plate Group, Second tie Manipur need 309 runs to win as Nagaland declare their second innings at 306/5

IMPHAL, Oct 20 : Manipur need 309 runs in 61 overs to win the second Ranji Trophy Plate Group tie against Nagaland as they closed the third day at 96/2 in 29 overs of their second innings after Nagaland declared their second innings at 306/5 to take a commanding 404-run lead.
Resuming the third day at 88/2 in 31 overs with Dega Nischal (62) and Hem Chetri (11), Nagaland added 218 runs and declared at 306/5 after 92 overs at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Dimapur.
Dega Nischal and Hem Chetri who already had forged a 60-run partnership till yesterday, carried forward the momentum and raised a respectable second wicket partnership of 224 runs before Bishworjit Konthoujam trapped Hem Chetri lbw on 90 to break the partnership in the 82nd over.
Bishworjit Konthoujam also bowled out incoming Hokaito Zhimomi for a 3-ball 8 in the 84th over to reduce Nagaland to 259/4 and collected his third scalp by removing Nischal on 154 for the fifth wicket.
Rongsen Jonathan 26 and Chetan Bist 11 were unbeaten as Nagaland declared their innings at 306 after 92 overs.
Continuing the day after the innings break, Manipur were 96/2 in 29 overs to trail by 308 runs.
Manipur lost Karnajit Yumnam early at 18 in the 7th over but Md Al Bashid scored a 78-ball 61 to add an impressive 68-run second wicket partnership with K Priyojit, who was unbeaten on 20 (off 63 balls) along with Johnson Singh 7 (off 16 balls) at stumps.
