28th State Youth Basketball Championship ESU overwhelm RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya 40-9 in Youth Girls' opener

IMPHAL, Oct 20 : ESU, Wangkhei kicked off girls' campaign in the 28th State Youth Basketball Championship with a massive 40-9 win over RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Haotal this morning at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.
Nganthoi added 10 points in ESU's big win as Katherine, Kretina and Sylvia added 8 points apiece. Derina and Rohita also added 4 and 2 points respectively to set up the big win for ESU.
For RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, M Inunganbi scored 5 points as Ranju Kh and Jubiliya added 2 points apiece.
Youth Boys
The day also saw Youth Club, Uripok registering two wins, one each against Youth Welfare Club (YWC), Malom and Model Club in the Group A competition of the Youth Boys' competition.
In the third match that was rescheduled today, Youth Club thumped YWC by 46-19 points riding on 12 points apiece from Taibanganba and Wilson.
Bhusan also starred with 8 points on the back of two triple as Y Benjamin also added the same score and Lanchenba picked 6 points.
For YWC, Lucky topscored with 9 points as Dhanjit and Laishram Calvin had a three point shot apiece, and Nikihil and Ch Yohenba scored 2 points apiece.
In the second match, Wilson led the scoring for Youth Club scoring 13 points including a three-pointer as Y Benjamin and Taibanganba added 7 points apiece to set up a 36-23 win over Model Club.
Bishwanand (5 pts) and Bhusan (4 pts) also contributed 9 points in Youth Club's victory as I Billgate topscored for Model Club with 12 points to his name.
H Angamba and W Devraj also scored a three pointer each for Model Club as A Thomba and I Telheiba added two points apiece and Th Sotin added one.
Later in the day, BDBA Bishnupur posted a 31-21 win over St Xavier's School, Majuron to open their Group B winning account after opening game loss.
M Suryajeet 12 pts and Ph Inunganba 10 were the leading scorers for the Bishnupur team as W Dimson and M Shivason scored 5 and 4 points apiece.
For St Xavier's School, Ph Ningailing scored highest 10 points including a three pointer as Leo Kamei added 5 points. Ph Pouchunthai (3 pts), D Lumloungam (2pts) and Gaicheamlung D (1 pt) also found their names on the scoresheet for the team.
In another Group B match, ESU, Wangkhei thrashed YOSC, Khurai by 45-15 points for the second straight victory.
Rishanta topscored for ESU with 18 points to his name as Telheiba scored 10 points including a triple and John Kenedy scored 9 points.
Milkan also added 4 points as Mangal and Satish contributed two points apiece.
For YOSC, Samson (6 pts) and Tomthin (4 pts) gathered 10 points as Ronald (2 pts), Prithibiraj (2 pts) and Lanchenba (1 pt) added 5 points.
